INVERS has developed an innovative and sustainable solution designed to reduce the environmental impact of protein production for animal feed.
INSECT PROTEIN
Europe imports over 70% of its protein requirements, mainly for use in animal feed. The production of these proteins, mainly derived from sea-harvested fish and soy crops, causes serious damage to our ecosystems which are being progressively depleted.
To break this vicious circle and protect our environment, INVERS replaces these unsustainable proteins with locally produced insect protein with a far lower carbon footprint.
The heros of this adventure are Tenebrion meunier (Tenebrio molitor), an insect belonging to the coleoptera family, the larvae of which are more commonly referred to as "mealworms", and our farmer partners who breed the worms for us.
